Applying for a replacement card

Pay online

If your card is lost, stolen or damaged, you’ll need to pay for a replacement card online. Keep a record of your receipt number, since you'll need to add it to your request form in step 2.

You don’t need to pay if you’re requesting a replacement card due to a name change, your old card has expired, or is unreadable because of wear and tear.

Fill out the request form

Complete the Student card form.

  • Select 'I am a returning or continuing student and need a student card'.
  • Select your reason for needing a replacement card.
  • Add your payment receipt number (if you’re required to pay for a replacement card).
  • Attach supporting documents.

Book an appointment

Once we've processed your request, we’ll send instructions to your student email about receiving your card. This can take 5-10 business days. The email will include a link where you can book an appointment to collect your card on Camperdown/Darlington campus.

If you can't collect it from Camperdown/Darlington campus due to your course enrolment or requirements (for example, you are studying at a different campus), you may be able to receive your card by post

Collect your student card on campus

Before arriving to campus, read our COVID safety precautions.

To collect your card, you’ll need to bring valid photo identification to your appointment. We will accept any of the following:

  • a current Australian or international passport
  • an Australian driver's licence, including a digital Australian driver’s licence
  • an Australian photo card, including a digital Australian photo card.

You need to bring the original document, or show us directly in the app if it's a digital document. We don't accept pictures or screenshots.

Change of name

  • copy of your name change confirmation email

SydPay

Your existing SydPay account will be linked to your new card when it’s issued, so you don’t need to transfer funds.

Opal card

If you lose your Concession Opal card, contact Opal Customer Care on 13 67 25 (13 OPAL) to report it immediately and order a replacement.

Temporary library card

A temporary library card allows you to access library facilities in situations where your student card has been deactivated. You can apply for a temporary library card if you are:

  • a postgraduate student who has suspended your studies
  • a student intending to do honours or study for a postgraduate degree
  • an HDR student under examination.
