Mathematics course prerequisites

To apply for some courses, students are required to complete mathematics through their high school studies.

The University is introducing mathematics course prerequisites for some courses from 2019 to help students thrive in their science, technology, engineering and mathematics related degrees and prepare them to tackle future career challenges.

Meeting the requirement

The mathematics course prerequisite applies to students who are undertaking a year 12 qualification in Australia such as the NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC), IB diploma or GCE A Level. Students need to achieve a Band 4 in the HSC Mathematics (not Mathematics General) or similar result in equivalent interstate year 12, IB or GCE A Level subjects or other year 12 qualifications, to be eligible for admission to a range of courses, including economics, commerce, computing, engineering and IT, medicine, psychology, pharmacy, veterinary science and science.

If you did not meet the mathematics prerequisite, you can apply to transfer into courses with mathematics prerequisite after completing a minimum of 48 credit points or one year of fulltime study in a bachelor's degree.
