The studying and living costs of study abroad and exchange

Learn how much tuition fees and textbooks are, and how much it costs to live in Sydney.

If you are coming to Australia on the student exchange program you pay your usual tuition fees and study costs to your home institution. You are best to check with your home institution to make sure everything is covered. If there are any extra costs associated with coming here, your home institution will advise you.

Study abroad fees

Students apply and pay directly to the University of Sydney.  

Study abroad tuition fee for 1 semester: $12,300

Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for 6 months: $330*

Textbooks: $200-300

Additional materials, equipment and field trips may apply to some units of study: $50-$200 per unit of study

Study abroad students are not eligible for student concession cards. Student concession cards entitle holders to discounts across campus, on public transport, and even to buying tickets to shows or membership to organisations.
