This is the second Professional Experience unit in the Master of Teaching (Early Childhood) degree. The unit includes a 20 day supervised placement that supports the learning and professional development of pre-service early childhood teachers in a birth to 2 setting. Students are expected to: draw on aspects of their knowledge acquired in both this unit as well as units taught in previous semesters, observe infants and toddlers in their placement settings, develop context specific curriculum, and document appropriate learning experiences for them based on their strengths and interests. In this Professional Experience, students will be expected to take increasing responsibility for planning in the room in consultation with their Supervising Teacher over the first three weeks of the placement. Students will take full responsibility for planning and documenting systems during the fourth week, while working with the Supervising Teacher and other educators.
