2025 unit information
This is a compulsory unit taught on a pass/fail basis. The purpose of this unit is to introduce the essential legal research skills students that need throughout their law degree. The unit covers a range of legal research techniques, equipping students to find and cite primary and secondary legal materials and to develop research strategy.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:
- LO1. understand a range of important primary and secondary sources of law
- LO2. find and analyse primary and secondary legal sources using a wide variety of legal research aids, especially online legal databases
- LO3. demonstrate and apply efficient and effective legal research methods, including advanced Boolean searching techniques.
