Associate Professor Peter McCallum BMus Dunelm MMus London PhD Sydney DSCM

Peter McCallum is an expert in music analysis and investigation of the compositional process, and is currently working on Beethoven’s sketches for the last five string quartets. He has published on the music of Beethoven, Boulez and the classical era, and has a secondary research area in aspects of Australian music including Australian music criticism.

He has been Chair of the Academic Board since December 2009. The Academic Board has the principal responsibility to encourage and maintain the highest standards in teaching, scholarship and research and to safeguard the academic freedom of the University.


General Counsel

Mr Richard Fisher LLB Sydney MEc UNE

Before joining the University, Richard Fisher was Chairman of Partners at law firm Blake Dawson Waldron. As a commercial lawyer he specialised in the areas of corporate reorganisation and insolvency, and was a consultant to the Asian Development Bank conducting projects on the development and harmonisation of insolvency laws in the Asian region.

The Office of General Counsel (OGC) is responsible for the provision of legal services to the University, including providing legal advice to the Senate, the Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor, senior executives and other officers of the University, and coordinating any external legal services provided to the University.

In addition to his role as General Counsel, Richard Fisher is also an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Law and the Graduate School of Government.

Ms Anne Bell BA (Hons) East Anglia MA Sheffield

Anne was previously University Librarian at the University of Warwick (2003–12) and Director of Library Services and Deputy Director of Information Services and Systems at King’s College London (1995–2003). Anne was Vice Chair, and then Chair, of SCONUL (Society of College, National & University Libraries) from 2004–08 and played a leading role in several strategic library collaborations, including the initiation of the UK Libraries of the Future project, which was a joint collaboration between the British Library, the JISC, the Research Information Network (RIN), Research Libraries UK (RLUK) and SCONUL. Anne is currently a member of the CAUL (Council of Australian University Librarians) Research Advisory Committee and the NSW Intersect Board.

The University Library is responsible for the provision of quality-assured information resources and a diverse range of associated services (both physical and online) to support research, teaching and scholarship.
