Faculty of Agriculture Postgraduate Association (FAPA)

Hello fellow FAE postgraduates! We’re the Faculty of Agriculture Postgraduate Association… otherwise known as FAPA.
FAPA is a student led committee that encourages social cohesion between all postgraduate students within the Faculty by hosting events that bring not just the students together but regularly invites along the staff body as well. Whilst events vary each year, some of the gigs you can expect that have a long tradition include the Welcome BBQ for new postgraduates, FAPA Jack Lawn Bowls, our regular International Film Festival, the Extreme Trivia night as well as some disgracefully enjoyable karaoke! FAPA also organises sporting afternoons, talks and lectures and, if you have a good idea we’re interested. Come and talk to us!
With the pending development of an interactive Faculty postgraduate website we hope to also bring more general support services on line – things such as hints & tips on diverse topics such as where to look for accommodation, travel options, good grocery stores, upcoming events plus much, much more.
There’s no need to join (we’ll find you!) but if you don’t receive emails from us please contact Faculty administration to make sure you are on the mailing list.
We hope to see many post grads in all the scheduled events this year!

Up and coming events
FAPA holds many events throughout the year including an introductory BBQ for new postgraduate students, FAPA Jack (a lawn bowling event), Octoberfest and a Melbourne Cup Calcutta as well as regular barbecue events. The latest event was the Melbourne Cup Calcutta held outside our building at Australian Technology Park. The event involved a large barbecue spread and drinks at lunchtime for the 60 people attending. It was following by a Calcutta where syndicates of students and staff placed bets on horses. The party then moved to the Alexandria Hotel nearby to watch the race.
