Orientation and Welcome for New Students

The faculty invites all of our commencing students to join us for our 2012 orientation program

Undergraduate student orientation: Thursday 1 March from 12.00 to 1.30pm

The orientation program for new undergraduate students is an opportunity to familiarise yourself with:

• key staff and services that will help you through your studies
• your fellow students, in first year and the ones in second and third year that provide opportunities to get the most out of your studies
• opportunities to get involved beyond the curriculum through clubs and activities
• your campus, especially the Wilkinson building.

The official welcome will be followed by a barbecue hosted by SUDA (Sydney University Design Association - your Faculty association). If you have not yet taken a tour of the Wilkinson Building, you can also go on a tour.

Postgraduate (Coursework) student orientation: Thursday 1 March from 5:00 to 6:00pm

This event introduces commencing postgraduate students to the myriad of support services available to you, including SUPRA (Sydney University Postgraduate Representative Association), and provides an opportunity to meet your fellow students and the staff who will be running our postgraduate programs.

The formal welcome will run for approximately one hour and will be followed by refreshments. Tours of the building and facilities will also be on offer to familiarise students with the Wilkinson Building.

The Welcome will take place in Architecture Lecture Theatre 1 in the Wilkinson Building.

Research student welcome and orientation: Tuesday 6 July, from 1:00 to 2:00pm

A welcome and orientation program for commencing MPhil and PhD students will be held on the first Tuesday of the March Semester, in conjunction with the first Research Modes lecture.

This incorporates information specific to research students, as well as general information about the Faculty. It also provides an opportunity to meet fellow commencing and continuing research students.

Where will orientation events be held?

The Orientation and Welcome for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Coursework students will be held in the Hearth of the Wilkinson Building (where you enrol), 148 City Road, The University of Sydney.

The Orientation and Welcome for Research students will be held in Room 557, on the fifth floor of the Wilkinson Building.
