5th Australian International Political Economy Network Workshop
From 5 December, 2013 to 6 December, 2013
9.30AM - 5PM
Keynote Speaker: Emeritus Professor Linda Weiss, The University of Sydney
Continuing what is now a wonderful tradition, following on from the very successful previous workshops held at the University of Adelaide (2007), Australian National University (2009), Griffith University (2010) and Murdoch University (2012), the 5th Australian International Political Economy Network Workshop will be hosted at the University of Sydney on 5-6 December 2013. It will be hosted with the support of the Department of Government and International Relations, Department of Political Economy and School of Social and Political Sciences.
As with the previous workshops, there will be the opportunity for both panels where full academic papers may be presented, and more informal roundtables allowing participants to discuss work-in-progress or already published research without having to provide a paper. The following are suggested as possible panel/roundtable themes:
(1) Neoliberalism after the financial crisis
(2) The rise of China and the Post-Washington/Beijing Consensus
(3) Globalisation and private governance
(4) IPE: the state of the discipline and new theoretical approaches
(5) Australia and the ‘Asian Century’
(6) Global development
(7) The political economy of global environmental challenges
(8) Gender and IPE
Attendees should also feel free to propose a panel or roundtable as well.
As with earlier workshops, the University of Sydney will host participants for dinner on 5 December. We will also provide, on a competitive basis, funding towards meeting the costs for any PhD candidates not based in Sydney to travel to Sydney and attend the workshop. The total funding available will be subject to the number of applications received. In order to apply, PhD candidates should email their CV, an abstract of approximately 200 words, and a short letter of support from their academic supervisor.
We look forward to welcoming you to Sydney!
