The human rights calendar will feature information on events and activities held throughout the year for students, staff and the general public with an interest in human rights and democratisation.
Sydney Ideas Special Lecture Series
The Faculty of Arts and Sydney Ideas will this spring bring a public series of special lectures on human rights and democratisation. The special lecture series will feature keynote speeches by internationally renowned human rights experts, including the Hon Michael Kirby AC CMG, Adj. Prof Chris Sidoti and Prof Brian Burdekin, who will draw on their extensive expertise and experience to examine the opportunities for and challenges of promoting human rights at the regional level in Asia Pacific today. The lectures will be open to students, staff and members of the general public.

Human Rights and Development Debate
On Friday 13 August 2010, guest panellists from the University of Sydney and ActionAid will lead the second debate in a series of three presented by the University's Institute of Social Sciences and ActionAid:
