«p»This research proposal explores the transmission and evolution of historical memory of World War II between China and Japan, focusing on history textbooks and social media. The study aims to understand how textbooks shape public perceptions of historical events, how these perceptions shift through social media narratives, and the underlying mechanisms of historical memory conflicts between China and Japan. It draws on Western and Asian literature on memory studies, emphasising the roles of state and international agents in memory-making. The methodology combines a comparative analysis of textbooks from both countries and a new media memory analysis on platforms like Weibo, Twitter, and TikTok. By examining these mediums, the study seeks to conceptualize the long-standing historical memory conflict between China and Japan and its implications for regional reconciliation.«/p»
