Thesis title: Great powers' grand strategies in times of international disorder: An analysis of the dynamics of competing grand strategies between incumbent powers and rising powers from 1900 to 2022.

Thesis abstract:

«p»This research aims to investigate the relationship between great powers' grand strategies during periods of disorder in the international structure where an incumbent power faces the challenge of a rising power. The proposal puts forward an adaption of neoclassical realist theory that incorporates grand strategy as an independent variable whilst emphasising the direct impact grand strategies of competitor nations have on each other and their domestic variables. The proposed methodology to answer the key research objective is a mixed methods approach combining case studies, process tracing and strategic games.«/p»
