Thesis abstract:

«p»Making significant changes to the curriculum is a complex undertaking, wherever in the world it occurs. China has undertaken several substantial physical education curriculum reforms since 1949 and has made efforts to change the sport-oriented nature of physical education but has not yet been able to bring about substantial change. Although the state has been calling for education to be student-centred, in the process of implementation, most physical education teachers have not changed their conception of education and still teach in an authoritarian classroom management style. This study explores the disposition of Chinese university physical education teacher educators towards student-centred teaching and the perception and implementation of the new HPE curriculum standards.«/p»
