As well as identifying you as a student at the University, your student card allows you to access campus facilities, borrow from the library, print and photocopy, and gives you access to a wide range of travel and student discounts.
Digital student cards are available
All enrolled students have the option to set up a digital student card. This works just like your physical student card (which will remain active) and can be used for University building access, SydPay, printing, library services and more. Follow the instructions on our new digital student cards website to download the app and start using your digital student card by tapping your iPhone, Apple Watch or other eligible Android device at readers across campus.
Please note that digital student cards will not be accepted as a form of identification for exams. You must use your physical card for identification for in-semester tests and end-of-semester exams.

Upload a passport-style photo to Sydney Student that meets the following photo guidelines:
Please be aware that the photo on your Student Card will be used to identify you in exams. If the photo does not look like you then it could result in an academic integrity investigation. It is important that your photo has not been modified.
You'll be able to do this:
If you have issues uploading your photo, we recommend using a Mozilla Firefox (Windows) or Safari (MacOS) browser. If this doesn't work, visit 148 City Road, Level 2 Foyer, Wilkinson Building (G04) or contact us online through our Student Cards form.
If your photo meets the guidelines, we'll approve it and you will receive a confirmation email. Within a couple of weeks you will receive another email with a collection date. At this point you will also be able to download and activate your digital student card. No booking is required to collect your physical card but it will not be available prior to the date in the email.
If you are unable to collect your card straight away, you may be able to collect it at a later date. Before visiting campus, please check this page for the collection location.
If you are living or studying within NSW, you will be required to collect your card at the Camperdown/Darlington campus. If you are based interstate within Australia, you may be eligible for your card to be sent by post.
All student card services are available from 148 City Road, Level 2 Foyer, Wilkinson Building (G04), which is open Monday – Friday, 9am – 4:30pm.
You will be asked to present your email stating the date your card is ready for collection. To find this email, search for noreply.onlinephoto@sydney.edu.au.
To collect your card, you’ll need to bring valid photo identification to your appointment. We will accept any of the following:
You need to bring the original document, or show us directly in the app if it's a digital document. We don't accept pictures or screenshots.
A digital student card is an optional service. It works in a similar way to your physical student card, offering the same experience in a more convenient digital format.
If you were not able to collect your student card when you started at the University, you can request your card at a later stage as long as you are still a currently enrolled student.
We’ll post your student card if you can't collect it from Camperdown/Darlington campus due to your course enrolment or requirements.
Yes. If you're starting a new course directly after completing a previous course, your existing student card will be valid once you enrol.
