Prof. Richard Green

Richard Green is an Emeritus Professor of Classical Archaeology at the University of Sydney. He is continuing his work on the material evidence for the style of performance in Greek and Roman theatre, and is currently pressing ahead with the publication of a new treatment of so-called phlyax vases, mainly from South Italy and Sicily, with scenes reflecting the performance of fourth-century comedy. He is also hoping to finalise a web-based database of objects illustrating Tragedy, Satyr-Play, Comedy and Pantomime.

He is also working on the definitive publication of his excavations at the site of the theatre in Paphos, the ancient capital of Cyprus. His recent publications include a 300-page survey of recent work on ancient theatre production in Lustrum vol. 50 and a full catalogue of the Logie Collection of antiquities in the University of Canterbury in Christchurch.
