Biographical details

Greg Murray is a Professor in the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Sydney. He graduated from the University of Sydney in 1980 and spent 4 years involved in research in the then Department of Prosthetic Dentistry and obtained his MDS and FRACDS. He then travelled to Toronto, Canada and completed a PhD with Professor Barry Sessle, also a graduate of Sydney University. His PhD work focussed on the cerebral cortical control of orofacial movements and was carried out in awake behaving monkeys. He returned to take up a Senior Lecturer's position at Sydney University in 1990 and at the same time engaged in research on the neurophysiological aspects of somatosensory sensation. He has published 54 research papers in refereed, international journals, 10 book chapters and 120 conference abstracts. He is a member of a number of societies including the Society for Neuroscience; the Australian Dental Association; the Dental Alumni Society of the University of Sydney; and the International Association for Dental Research.
