Lost property
A large number of items are found at the University each day.
Items are kept for twenty-four hours at the venue where they were first found. After this time they are moved to the Campus Assist service desk in the Services Building (G12) which is located at 22 Codrington Street, Darlington (see map).
Items are then recorded in a database with the aim of matching them with items reported as lost.
You can check if an item has been handed in by calling the Campus Assist Helpdesk on 9351 7838.
Items that are handed in and not claimed by their lawful owner within three months may be given to charity shops for sale if appropriate, or disposed of.
If you find an item and wish to claim it after this three month period, ensure you leave correct contact information with the service desk in G12.
Reporting found property
You can hand in found property at faculty or department offices, to a Campus Assist officer, security officer or to the Lost Property Office in Services Building (G12).
The property will be inspected and listed immediately so that both the Officer and the finder can sign a record of accuracy. Any money handed in will be counted and recorded in the same manner.
The Campus Assist service desk in the Services Building (G12) maintains a property receipt book for these purposes. Security patrol officers are issued with notebooks that can serve as interim records of found property.
