How to enrol
Enrolment is the formal process of registering with your faculty and choosing your units of study (subjects). You will need to visit our campus on a specific enrolment day and enrol in person. The steps to follow are:
- Find your faculty enrolment date and time
- Read your faculty handbook to learn about the structure of your course and how to select units of study.
- Talk to a student adviser at your faculty if you need more information or advice.
- Attend enrolment day and complete your enrolment.
- Once you have enrolled you will be told where to go to get your student identification card.
- In the week following your enrolment, an email will be sent to your University email account confirming that your enrolment was successful and advising you to log into MyUni to check that your enrolment details are correct.
- Enjoy the various orientation and welcome activities on campus at this time!
Enrolment dates are usually scheduled within the two-week period prior to the start of semester. You need to enrol on the date and time applicable to your course. Late enrolments will only be allowed with faculty permission. Please contact your faculty if you are unable to attend on your scheduled enrolment date.

Your enrolment date for Semester One 2014 is Wednesday 26 February 2014.
What to bring with you to enrolment
You need to bring your passport, your letter of offer from the University, and fees invoice , as these documents are needed to complete the enrolment process. Once you have completed all stages of your enrolment you will be given information about how to upload a passport-style photograph and apply for a travel concession if you are eligible.
Once you have completed your travel concession declaration and uploaded your photo, you will receive an email (at your university email address), advising you where and when you can collect your card.
To collect your card you must bring one form of photo identification, such as:
- driver licence, or
- passport, or
- NSW Photo Card
Welcome and orientation programs
At the beginning of each semester there are transition programs and orientation events designed to welcome new students to the University of Sydney.
These activities are organised by faculties, the Library and central student support services, who all work together to help you become familiar with the University, find your way around, and make new friends. There are additional events for international students.

Adding or withdrawing a subject
For Semester One 2014, you can add a subject until Friday 14 March 2014 and withdraw from a subject without penalty until Monday 31 March 2014. Please note that some subjects are held in non-standard sessions and have different census dates. For a list of sessions and their corresponding census dates, visit the Session Dates page.
Under ESOS legislation student visa holders are required to complete their course within the duration specified in their Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE). Therefore you need to stay enrolled in a full-time study load (24 credit points).
