Welcome to the Tech Lounge
The University of Sydney has worked with Microsoft to build an informal technology space in the heart of the City campuses, full of innovative learning technology.
The SciTech Library has provided space in Room 221B, Level 2 (in the JFR building, behind Subway) for a cosy common-room-style lounge which houses new computers, mobile phones and even an X-box Kinect! This new space is open for all University of Sydney students to hang out, work together in groups and experiment with new technology.
As part of the University's commitment to enhancing its learning network, the Tech Lounge was built through a shared initiative between Information and Communications Technology and the University of Sydney Library as an innovative technology zone. It is an informal, experimental space that provides students a space to study, socialise and interact with new technologies, while also improving the University's understanding of how students engage with technology outside traditional settings like classrooms and computer labs.
As a student, you can use the space to interact with innovative technologies, study, research, relax, socialise, play, and listen to music.

The space can be split into four areas or "zones". These are:

- Need some time out or have some reading to do? Take a seat in one of the ultra-comfy couches, and while you're there have a play with the tablets and ultra-light laptops available on the coffee tables.
Behind the painted walls (or the area you see when you exit the lift) contains powerful laptops and "all-in-one" computers on a shared study table. Students have unlimited free internet on campus, so use this space to research or catch up on some study.
Need some time out? Get your energy levels back up in the Play zone. This space contains two XBOX 360s, two large LED panels, and Kinect motion controlled gaming.
