Cardiothoracic Surgery Research and Education Fund
A Leading Cardiothoracic Centre
As one of Australia’s major cardiothoracic centres, the Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit at Royal North Shore Hospital serves 1.4 million people in the Northern Sydney - Central Coast area. The department of Cardiology at Royal North Shore Hospital has several clinical professors who combine teaching, research and clinical work – contributing to new knowledge and healthcare.
The Cardiothoracic Surgery Education and Research Fund ensure that generous donations made to the Cardiothoracic Surgery Unit maintain a rich history of ground breaking research and innovations in the field.
Cardiovascular disease is the single largest cause of death in Australia, followed by cancer. According to Heart Research Australia, four times as many women die from coronary heart disease than breast cancer. Three times as many men will die from coronary heart disease than prostate cancer.
New less invasive, evidence-based treatments being pioneered at Royal North Shore Hospital will help improve the recovery and survival rate of heart disease and cardiothoracic patients.
The Cardiothoracic Surgery Education and Research Fund need donors to make a continued impact to cardiothoracic research to help improve the quality of life for patients and their carers. If you wish to make a lasting impression on the treatment of cardiothoracic and heart disease, make a donation to the Cardiothoracic Surgery Research and Education Fund.
