Dr Narelle Shadbolt

Senior Lecturer (Discipline of General Practice)
Dr Shadbolt is the Sub Dean for Hornsby Hospital which is part of the Northern Clinical School and has previously held the position of Associate Dean for Student Support. Dr Shadbolt is a Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of General Practice and holds a conjoint appointment with the Northern Sydney Local Health District. She has worked as a general practitioner since graduation from the University of Sydney Medical Program and currently has a clinical practice at the General Practice Unit at Hornsby Hospital.
Dr Shadbolt has worked in the area of Medical Education for many years in roles including Senior Medical Educator for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and Coordinator of the Central Coast Regional Training program, National Coordinator for the Clinical Examination for the RACGP, RACGP NSW Censor, Director of Clinical Training at Hornsby Hospital and Senior Medical Advisor for General Practice Education and Training Australia. Within the Faculty of Medicine, she has had roles as Chair of Pre-Internship Committee and Chair of the Patient Doctor Theme Committee.
Dr Shadbolt has a long standing research and teaching interest in the health and well-being of doctors and has published and taught extensively in this area both nationally and at international forums. She is immediate past President of the NSW Doctors Health Advisory Service and contributed chapters to the recently published “Becoming a Doctor: Surviving and thriving in the early post-graduate years” and the IMET publication “The Trainee in Difficulty” handbook for Directors of Post Graduate Education and Training. The health and well-being of young doctors and students is a special interest.
