Westmead Hospital
Officially opened on November 10, 1978, Westmead Hospital is a 925 bed, specialised referral hospital offering clinical training to medical and dental students of the University of Sydney. It also offers training to paramedical students of the Cumberland College of Health Sciences and to nurses of the School of Nursing.
Westmead Hospital is currently undergoing a multi million dollar refurbishment and rebuilding which reflects the needs of the growing patient population’. There are new facilities in Cancer Care, Allied Health, Women's Health and Newborn Care, Renal, Urology, Transplant Comprehensive Clinical Centre and Intensive Care.
Where are we located?

Situated 2 km west of Parramatta, Westmead Hospital (indicated by the large red star) is located almost at the geographical centre of Sydney (indicated by the small red star, right).
About one third of all the people in Sydney and about eight per cent of the entire Australian population live within the boundaries of the Sydney West Area Health Service.
