Associate Dean
Professor David Harris
David Harris is Associate Dean of the Westmead Clinical School at Westmead Hospital. He is a nephrologist and prior to his appointment as Associate Dean was Director of Nephrology and Dialysis at the Western Sydney Renal Service. Previous executive positions include President of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nephrology, Chairman of the Medical and Scientific Advisory Committee, Director of Kidney Health Australia and Executive Councillor of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN). Currently he is Chair of the Advisory Committee of the Australasian Kidney Trials Network, a Councillor of the Asian Pacific Society of Nephrology, Chair of the Fellowship Program of the International Society of Nephrology, and Editor-in-Chief of the journal Nephrology.
David's laboratory research interests are focused on interstitial inflammation and novel treatments for progressive chronic renal disease, and his clinical research interests are in dialysis and progressive chronic renal failure. He has published more than 170 articles, mainly in the areas of his research interests.
David has been interested in teaching at all levels throughout his medical career, and in particular enjoys tackling the exciting challenges of medical student teaching at Westmead.
Despite his advancing years he is still passionate about a number of potentially unhealthy extracurricular activities like skiing and off-road marathons.

Izam Mujir
Izam joined the Clinical School as the Education Support Officer in July 2004. He is responsible for looking after the Stage 3 and PrInt students based at Westmead.
Born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Izam has lived in Australia for more than 20 years. He has previously worked with the Faculty of Medicine, University of Dundee; the School of Medical Sciences, University Sains Malaysia, Penang.

Margaret joined the Clinical School in 2008, and is responsible for the Stage 1 students.
Margaret previously worked at Westmead Hospital in medical administration and also at the University of New South Wales and the University of Auckland.

Dr Daniel Lin
Dr Daniel Lin is a Staff Specialist in the Department of Paediatrics at Blacktown and Mt Druitt Hospitals. He is also a Visiting Medical Officer at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Westmead Private Hospital.
He graduated from The University of Sydney in 1990. His Paediatric training was conducted and completed at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children at Camperdown and the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
He has been trained in EMST (Emergency Management of Severe Trauma), EMSB (Emergency Management of Severe Burns), Advanced Neonatal Life Support and is an instructor in Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS).
He was appointed as Director of Medical Education at BMDH from 2000-2003 and continues to be actively involved in teaching at the Westmead Clinical School within Westmead Hospital, establishing the “Clinical Approach to Structured Examination” (CASE) program and chairs a committee in the Personal and Professional Development theme.
His research interests are in medical education and information technology.
He has four young children and is involved in the gifted and talented programs (GAT) and activities at his local school and at the NSW state association level.
Dr Lin has a public clinic in General Paediatrics and Allergy Screening at Blacktown Hospital and consults privately in rooms at Westmead Private Hospital.

Sub Dean, Surgery

Dr Mauro Vicaretti
Mauro is a vascular surgeon dealing with all aspects of vascular surgery and medicine. Special interests are in endovascular therapies for occlusive and aneurysmal arterial disease, the diabetic foot, and infections in vascular surgery.
He is involved in vascular education at all levels especially to post-graduate medical students. Mauro is presently involved in research in the genesis of atherosclerosis.

Prof Jacob George joined the Westmead Clinical School as Postgraduate Coordinator in January 2003.
Postgraduate Unit Student Officer
Naomi Muir
Naomi joined the Postgraduate Unit - WCS in January 2002, and provides support to the Postgraduate Coordinator, Professor Jacob George of the Westmead Clinical School.
She is responsible for postgraduate student enquiries and coordinating postgraduate related matters such as interviews, courses and seminars.

Elective Student Officer

Sondra Edmonds
Sondra has worked at the Westmead Clinical School since 1999. Her main duties include organising elective student placements and accommodation for overseas and Australian students at the Medical School.
Accountant
John Sargan
John joined the Westmead Clinical School in 2001, and is responsible for looking after the finances of the clinical schools at Westmead and Nepean.
John has a degree in Finance with Accounting and is a UK Certified Accountant.
Before joining the clinical school, John worked for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and the Rank Organisation.
