New Student Accommodation: Applications are now open for semester 2 in the Queen Mary Building

4 May 2015

The University of Sydney will create a new vibrant and engaging community in Camperdown by revamping the Queen Mary Building (QMB) as a centre of student accommodation.

The University purchased the Grose Street building in 2013 and will use it to create affordable accommodation for 800 international and domestic students.

The QMB has sat vacant since 2002. This new student accommodation centre will both reinvigorate this landmark building and activate the area. By shopping, eating and participating locally, the centre's students and staff will add value to the local economy and neighbourhood.

The reactivation of the building will also help to create a safer local environment, through increased activity, and improve the amenity of the site.

The building will be retrofitted to provide single rooms with large common living and study spaces. We will provide students with the latest in creature comforts, from sky lounges and sky gardens to communal kitchens, a theatre, gym and sound-proof music rooms.
