Preparing for the NSW Health Recruitment process for graduates 2011 (for employment in 2012)
Step 1
Download the FAQs and read them.
Step 2
Identify your referees and send them the referee template (included in the FAQ download) for them to complete and return to you. Collect relevant information for your portfolio, including information photocopied from your Clinical Log Book.
Step 3
Attend Application Writing Workshop at Sydney Nursing School on Tuesday 17 May or Thursday 19 May (both 24pm in Room C3.01).
Also attend individual Hospital Information Sessions (eg Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick on 9 June).
Step 4
Write your cv and book in for a cv check with a Careers Advisor at Sydney Nursing School on either Tuesday 24 or Thursday 26 May (more details at the Application writing workshop).
Step 5
Apply online. Applications open on 6 June and close 18 July. It is advisable to print off for your own records your completed application with your unique four digit application number.
Step 6
Attend Mock Interviews Sessions at Sydney Nursing School in late July (date, time and location TBA).
NOTE: You should also contact Local Health Networks and Hospitals (Public and Private) to find out about their graduate recruitment process and deadlines. Let us know (; ) if you need additional support for applications and interview preparation to meet alternate deadlines. Also remember that the Careers Centre runs regular workshops and counselling sessions for all students.

Pre-registration courses
The following courses are referred to as "pre-registration" because they are available to students who have not yet become registered nurses. Pre-registration courses are designed for those students who wish to become registered nurses in the state of NSW.

If you are enrolled in units of study NURS6001NURS6008 you will receive your timetables via email the week before classes.
- Semester 1 units commence early in Week -3 (8 February 2010)
- Semester 2 units commence in Week -2 (12 July 2010)

Personal timetables for students enrolled in pre-registration units of study with codes commencing NURS 5, are administered by the Timetable Unit. On the Timetable Unit site, you will find instructions on:
- collecting your timetable, and
- how to change your timetable online
Prior to collecting your timetable, you can also see an overview of the scheduling of units of study by entering the unit code in the search bar.
Please note that Sydney Nursing School staff are unable to take timetable requests.

It is important to check your University of Sydney email account regularly, as this is the channel of official communication from the University and Sydney Nursing School.
