The organising committee of the 17th Annual Conference of the AAPAE is pleased to announce the inaugural

LAW and ETHICS in PHARMACY WORKSHOP

Date: Wed 16th June 2010,
Venue: Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Sydney.

Pharmacists and Academics: the profession is undergoing substantial changes in legislation which will inevitably affect pharmacy practice and implications thereof. It is time we engaged in discussion and collaboration.

This workshop is intended to bring together all stakeholders in teaching and practising law and ethics in pharmacy. The workshop will be of interest to academics from various faculties of pharmacy, stakeholders in professional indemnity, consultants and representatives of all pharmacy related professional organisations in Australia and New Zealand.

Aims

The aims of this workshop are twofold:

  1. To explore the role of teaching ethics and law (as they are related and often contradictory) in the preparation of pharmacy students, and graduates/interns for professional practice. The outcomes of this meeting may also inform the continuing professional development of practitioners in the area of professional ethics and law in pharmacy.
  2. To explore the possibility of preparing two (or more) sub-groups or sub-committees, such as:
  • An Advisory Committee – high level academics and others for consultation and feedback
  • Steering committee/working group – active workers with a real passion to further the ethics agenda

So, mark your diaries and come join us for what is bound to be a very interesting workshop.
