Child Care Centres

The information provided here relates to the long day care centres on or near the University of Sydney’s Camperdown/Darlington and Cumberland campuses. If you are studying with the Conservatorium of Music or Faculty of Law and would like information about child care centres located in the Sydney CBD check the City of Sydney Child Care Services Directory . The child care centres located on or near the Camperdown/ Darlington and Cumberland campuses are managed by qualified staff and subject to Quality Assurance accreditation as required by the Australian government. Each centre provides programs which are developmentally appropriate and responsive to the needs of the individual child. The centres are open to students and staff of the University as well as members of the general community.

Please note, the centres listed below are long day care centres and therefore do not provide occasional care. If you are seeking occasional care, please access the Occasional Care page.

There are four child care centres on or near the Camperdown/Darlington campus and one centre located at the Cumberland campus:

Boundary Lane Children's Centre

Boundary Lane is located in Darlington, near the Wentworth Building on main campus. Its philosophy is to provide, develop, resource and manage a high quality child care service that fulfills the needs of the community and is accessible and affordable. We provide a happy, caring, stimulating, secure and free from bias environment for all children.

Hours: Mon-Fri, 8am-6pm
No. of Children per day: 56 (0-5 years)
Weeks open: 49
Fees: Child 0-2 years: $80.00 day.
Child 3-5 years: $70.00 day

SDN Ngallia Children's Education & Care Centre

Ngallia Children's Education & Care Care Centre is located at Cumberland Campus in Lidcombe. The Centre's philosophy is to provide quality child care that is appropriate to the needs of children, parents or others responsible for each child. It actively promotes the education of the children in care. This is achieved by working in partnership with families or others responsible, as the child's main educators, and by extending their experiences, skills and knowledge. Ngallia respects the privacy of parents, children and staff.

Hours: Mon-Fri, 7:30am-6:00pm
No. of places: 46 (0-5 years)
Weeks open: 48-50
Fees: Child 0-3 years: $83.00 day. Child 3-5 years: $76 day

Sydney University Union Child Care Centres

Union Child Care Centre

This centre is located in Darlington, next to the Noel Martin sports centre. The centre's primary aim is to create an environment which is caring and family-like, striving to nurture and stimulate children through play experiences, based on the children's individual strengths and interests. We believe the environment should cater for individual exploration and social interaction within a supportive and inclusive environment for all involved. The Centre is proudly managed by KU Children's Services.

Hours: Mon-Fri, 7am-6pm

Fees for students with an Access Card:
Child 0-3 yrs - $94.00 / day. Child 3-6 yrs - $91.00 /day

Laurel Tree House

Laurel Tree House is located in Glebe, right opposite the main campus. The staff and community of Laurel Tree House are committed to providing a caring, educational and nurturing environment which will meet the diverse educational and developmental needs of all children. Carillon Avenue Child Care Centre is located in Newtown, opposite to main campus. The centre's primary aim is to create a home-like atmosphere through a loving, stable, secure and responsive environment in which each child can grow and develop to their fullest potential. Each child is seen as an individual with his/her own interests, strengths and needs in life. The Centre is proudly managed by KU Children's Services.
