Occasional Care
Occasional Care is a service that provides intermittent care for children aged 0–5 years. Unlike Long Day Care, where children must be enrolled for particular days each week, this service provides flexible care for one-off or short term needs. Occasional Care is used by parents while they are shopping, attending appointments, or needing respite care, for example. Occasional Care may be useful to students who have only a couple of contact hours per week or need care in order to spend studying or in the library.
Occasional Care Centres are subject to licensing regulations including heath and safety requirements. Parents using this service for work or study purposes may also be eligible for the Child Care Benefit. Visit the Family Assistance Office website for more information.
There are no Occasional Care Centres on the Camperdown/Darlington Campus, see the Occasional Care Centres list below for names of centres closest to the University. Occasional care is available from the Ngallia Children's Education & Care Centre at the Cumberland campus. This is subject to places available at the centre on the day in which occasional care is needed.
