What am I eligible for?

The Scholarships and Financial Support Service provides loans and bursaries to degree students of the University of Sydney to help pay for essential living and study expenses.

Local undergraduate students

All local undergraduate students are eligible for loan assistance. Interest free loans of up to $2000 may be applied for to assist with essential living and study expenses. Please click the following link for more information:

Loans and repayments

Full-time, local undergraduate students may also be eligible for bursary assistance. A bursary is a non-repayable grant which may be awarded to students who are in financial difficulty and making satisfactory progress in their studies. Please click the following links for more information:

General Bursaries: General bursaries are offered throughout the year.

Advertised Bursaries: Advertised bursaries are offered from specific funds once a year.

Local postgraduate students

Local postgraduate students are eligible for interest free loan assistance. Loans of up to $2000 can be provided to assist with essential living and study expenses, as well as overseas conference travel in some instances.

International undergraduate and postgraduate students are eligible for interest free loans of up to $1000. This support is intended to help you with essential living and study expenses.

International students can apply for a loan when they are waiting for their student loan money to be transferred or if they are experiencing financial difficulty.

Information for Students with a Disability

As noted previously bursaries are generally available to full-time local undergraduate students.

However, if you are a student with a disability and studying part-time, but considered full-time by Centrelink because of your disability, you can still be considered for bursary assistance.
