Professor Annamarie Jagose has been the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences since January 2017.
Professor Jagose is an internationally renowned scholar in feminist studies, lesbian and gay studies and one of the foundational figures in queer theory. A Fellow of the Australian Academy of Humanities, she is the author of a number of research monographs and is also an award-winning novelist.
Before joining the University of Sydney in 2011, Professor Jagose held positions in the Department of English and Cultural Studies at the University of Melbourne, and in the Department of Film, Television and Media Studies at the University of Auckland.
As Dean, Professor Jagose ensures the faculty’s teaching and research excellence is grounded in socially engaged practices that respect diversity and creativity.
