The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is proud to continue supporting the Global Voices scholarships in Semester 2. This is a fully funded opportunity ideal for students who are interested in and passionate about making meaningful changes in global climate policy, gender equality, social and economic policy, human rights, and international development.
The Global Voices participants engage in both domestic and international delegations and attend private meetings with subject matter and policy experts, esteemed academics, Commonwealth Government Departmental Secretaries, members of the Australian Parliament, and leaders of civil society and private organisations.
The program includes the pre-departure briefing at the Global Voices National Conference in Canberra, where participants attend policy writing workshops, media engagement training, networking programs and bilateral meetings with high-level parliamentarians working on issues that students focused on within their policy papers.
The scholarships cover domestic and international flights, accommodation, insurance, and registration fees.
The scholarship will see one student represent Australia at the International Monetary Fund (IMF)/World Bank Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Washington, USA. The AGMs are gatherings of finance ministers, central bank governors, and other key stakeholders from member countries to discuss global economic issues, development priorities, and financial policies.

"Opportunities like the Global Voices program are so important for providing youth with a platform to contribute their perspectives and ideas, fostering a more inclusive and effective approach to addressing issues that matter to youth. The program has not only helped my study within the Master of Economics, but my current role working for the NSW Government as an Economist.”

"Witnessing firsthand the complexities and nuances of international relations and diplomacy at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the practical applications of theories and concepts learned in the classroom. The scholarship experience fuelled my passion for effecting positive change on a global scale, motivating me to further pursue opportunities for advocacy and engagement in international affairs."
“Representing Australia at the global summit was a unique opportunity witnessing how AI can positively impact the world and countering the prevalent negative media narratives. This amazing experience showed me what global collaboration looks like, enabled me to connect with people from all over the world, and offered me a fresh perspective on global AI policies.”
