The Global Executive MBA (GEMBA) welcomed its tenth cohort earlier this year with students coming from a diverse range of industries and backgrounds. They recently completed their first residential block on 'Reframing Leadership'. Women Leading in Business Scholarship recipient, Kim Liddell, shares her highlights.
“The Global Executive MBA has exceeded my expectations. It is meticulously co-ordinated and sequenced. The speakers, educators, learnings and external experiences are second to none,” said Kim who has aspired to join the GEMBA program for several years. "The program has set me on a new and refreshed path of understanding and exploration."
I feel my zest for life and work has been amplified through this experience and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to attend through the scholarship.
With a focus on experiential learning at the core of the GEMBA program, students were given access to business leaders and organisations with visits to the Victoria Barracks, the Art Gallery of NSW, the Conservatorium of Music and North Shore Rowing Club.
Structured learnings around a variety of leadership styles, systems and teamwork practices were also covered, along with unique approaches on how to explore leading ways of thinking and dealing with business issues.
Kim says she has developed newfound knowledge and skills to reframe perspectives and is now equipped with a fresh approach to sense-making, helping her to move forward with renewed passion and energy for her endeavours both personally and professionally.
“I have been running my excavation business in Sydney for nearly 14 years and, as we go through a period of transition and growth, I believe that the GEMBA program has already upskilled my knowledge and ambitions. The learnings around leadership and teams has provided me with a new lens to look at my own business and the way we do the things we do.”
“The program has also given me the space, opportunity and feedback to dig deep personally to enable me to learn and grow. Even though it is very early days into my Executive MBA, I am excited about the future learnings, challenges and global experiences that lay ahead and look forward to diving in head first with the inspiring and diverse group that is Cohort 10.”
The Global Executive MBA offers students a range of unique experiences around the world in diverse countries and organisations. Students attend residential blocks in Australia, England, India, Israel and the United States.
