Benefits

Recipients who enrol in at least 12 credit points per semester will receive:

  • $2,500 per semester for undergraduate students, and
  • $5,000 per semester for postgraduate students.

Recipients enrolled in less than 12 credit points per semester will receive:

  • $1,250 per semester for undergraduate students, and
  • $2,500 per semester for postgraduate students.

The scholarship can be held for a maximum duration of one year.

Who's eligible

You must:

  • be a domestic student
  • be a member of the Elite Athlete Program at Sydney Uni Sport and Fitness, and
  • be commencing or currently enrolled in a coursework degree administered by the University of Sydney Business School and meet one of the following criteria:
    • commencing your undergraduate degree and have obtained an ATAR or at least 97
    • commencing your postgradaute degree and accepted an unconditional offer of admission, or
    • currently enrolled in your degree and achieved an AAM of at least 75.

This Scholarship was established in 2012 to recognise and support student athletes achieving excellent results both in the classroom and within their sport.

1. Background

a. This Scholarship was established in 2012 to recognise and support student athletes achieving excellent results both in the classroom and within their sport.

2. Eligibility

a. Recipients must be domestic students.

b. Recipients must be commencing or currently enrolled in a coursework degree administered by the University of Sydney Business School.

I. Undergraduate recipients commencing their degree must attain an ATAR of at least 97,

II. Postgraduate recipients commencing their degree must accept an unconditional offer of admission,

III. Currently enrolled recipients must achieve an annual average mark of at least 75.

c. Recipients must be a member of the Elite Athlete Program at Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness.

3. Selection Criteria

a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:

I. academic merit, and

II. sporting achievements at a state and/or national level. 

b. The Scholarship will be awarded by the Dean of the University of Sydney Business School or their nominated delegate(s). 

4. Value

a. Recipients who enrol in at least 12 credit points per semester will receive:

I. $2,500 per semester for undergraduate students, and 

II. $5,000 per semester for postgraduate students.

b. Recipients enrolled in less than 12 credit points per semester will receive:

I. $1,250 per semester for undergraduate students, and

II. $2,500 per semester for postgraduate students.

c. The scholarship can be held for a maximum duration of one year.

d. The Scholarship value will be paid after the census date of each semester.

e. Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted.

f. Suspension of the scholarship is permitted for one semester provided the recipient is permitted to, or obtains approval to, suspend their degree. The duration of the scholarship will not be extended if a recipient suspends their scholarship. 

g. The scholarship cannot be transferred to another Faculty/School.

h. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.

i. No other amount is payable.

5. Ongoing eligibility

a. To continue receipt of the Scholarship, the recipient must maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 65 each semester.

b. Recipients undertaking an exchange during the tenure of this Scholarship are required to have achieved a Satisfied Requirements grade (SR) to receive their next payment. 

6. Termination

a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:

I. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,

II. withdraws from or is deselected from the SUSF’s Elite Athlete Program,

III. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance or fails to meet the ongoing eligibility requirement set out in 5.a.,

IV. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application, or

V. does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave.

b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.  

c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed. 

7. Other Requirements

a. Scholarship recipients may be invited to promote the program in which they are enrolled, represent the University of Sydney at student welcome, marketing events and corporate networking events and fulfil the on-campus functions of a Business School Student Ambassador.
