About this honours subject area
Entry into an Honours year requires completion of a major in the subject area with an average of 70% or above. A reading knowledge of one language other than English is also required. If you do not meet these criteria you may apply for special permission from the Director of ICLS.
International and Comparative Literary Studies provides you with a vibrant and innovative interdisciplinary program of study. Taught by staff from ten different departments covering European, Asian, Latin American and Middle Eastern language-based disciplines, as well as the Department of English, this rich and diverse program provides an honours year that is both personally rewarding and prepares you for a range of possible career paths.
You will be equipped with cross-literary, cross-cultural and interdisciplinary knowledge, understanding and expertise needed to live, work and succeed in an increasingly global society. A literary education in particular provides important cultural insights, as literature both reflects and shapes a society's cultural and intellectual life.
