About this major
The Project Management major will provide you with the fundamental project management skills, theories and methods required in today's complex business environment. Project managers help organisations deliver new or enhance current products, services and infrastructure. They manage and implement new systems and processes, and effect change within organisations.
Based on a complex systems approach, this major uses multidisciplinary theories and methods to investigate how to approach the management of projects where an innovative and dynamic approach is required. The project management-related technical and behavioural skills you will develop can be applied across any industry and is highly valued in professional, creative and management roles.
As a part of an intensive capstone project, you will have the opportunity to undertake a major multidisciplinary project. This requires you to integrate your project management knowledge and skills, and successfully apply them as you initiate, plan, execute, control and close a project. Working as part of a team on a simulated eight-month, mid-sized, high-priority project, you will be responsible for developing the key project management deliverables, including the project charter, project plan, change control process, status reports and post-project reviews.
