About this specialisation
Breast Imaging is designed to advance evidence-based knowledge and expand professional skills in this rapidly developing area of medical imaging.
This specialisation will integrate the theory and practice of mammography in the context of breast screening and breast cancer detection. Areas studied include, the fundamentals of digital mammography, relevant radiation physics, technical priorities and client care.
Students will also cover the latest trends in new and novel imaging methods and technologies for breast cancer detection such as digital breast tomosynthesis, phase contrast, magnetic resonance, diagnostic ultrasound, and molecular imaging. Current research into reader accuracy will also be investigated.
Graduate opportunities
Specialisations allow students to investigate an area of interest relevant to their professional practice or area of expertise.
A minimum of 4 units of study (24 credit points) are required for each specialisation and each unit of study can only be used for one specialisation.
Students may achieve more than one specialisation if completing at Masters level.
