About this specialisation
Hybrid Imaging will be of interest if you are already working, or considering a career, as a nuclear medicine scientist, medical radiation practitioner or researcher in the area of molecular and morphological hybrid imaging.
You will develop an understanding of the basic science of positron emission tomography (PET) and single photon emission tomography (SPECT), computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging.
You will study the equipment, tomographic reconstruction, image display and analysis used in current clinical hybrid systems, e.g., SPECT/CT, PET/CT, PET/MRI. Techniques used to improve image quality, quantify radiopharmaceutical biodistribution and reduce radiation dose to the patient will be included.
This specialisation will also investigate the clinical application of molecular and morphological hybrid imaging in different patient conditions. Future trends and novel techniques in the development and application of hybrid imaging will be discussed.

A minimum of 4 units of study (24 credit points) are required for each specialisation and each unit of study can only be used for one specialisation.
Students may achieve more than one specialisation if completing at Masters level.
