What happens next
We will let you know the outcome of your application by email. If successful, you will receive a message in Sydney Student. You'll need to accept your offer and confirm your bank details straight away.
The money will then be paid into your nominated bank account within 10 working days from the time you accept the offer.
If your plans or circumstances change before you receive your application outcome, please notify Sydney Abroad. If your OS-HELP loan has been approved, you will have the option to Decline the loan offer.
Once you have accepted the loan offer, the debt has been incurred. It can only be repaid through the Australian Taxation Office, in the same way that you repay your student contribution through the Higher Education Contribution Scheme (HECS).
Your HELP debt
Any loan that you take out through the Government’s Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) will contribute towards your accumulated HELP debt.
