The Pride Network is made up of students and staff who support and advocate on behalf of everyone who identifies as LGBTQIA+. The network meets regularly to discuss any LGBTQIA+ issues and concerns on campus, and provides a channel to raise these with University leadership. The aim is for all members of our community to feel supported and free to contribute their best.
The role of a Pride Network member is to be aware of the challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ people and to make a difference in whatever way they feel comfortable.
Additionally, the network celebrates days of significance such as Mardi Gras, Pride Month, Trans Day of Awareness and IDAHOBITA.
We welcome you to join the Pride Network.
Anyone is welcome to participate and stand together as a member of the Pride Network. Your role is to be a point of support for LGBTQIA+ students and staff, to be aware of the challenges faced by the community and to make an effort to improve inclusion on our campuses. This can include being a point of contact, standing against inequality or exclusion and using your skills to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community.
Find out more about the role and responsibilities of a Pride Network member, and how the Network contributes to creating a stronger and more inclusive environment.
If you’d like to get in touch with someone from the network, including to raise or discuss LGBTQIA+ issues and concerns, you can email pride.network@sydney.edu.au.
LGBTQIA+ Student Support Liaison Officers (SSLOs) are staff volunteers who have received specialised training to support LGBTQIA+ students, and are members of the LGBTQIA+ communities and allies.
SSLOs promote inclusion and support for LGTBQIA+ students at the University and can provide information about resources to promote health, safety and connection with other students and communities.
To get support, we encourage you to get in contact with an SSLO.
Student Life offers a range of wellbeing and mental health services. You can also get wellbeing support.
The Pride Network supports the inclusion of LGBTQIA+ members of our community. Check out the Pride Network Resource booklet to find up-to-date resources around campus.
