You can apply to study a music unit of study at the University of Sydney, which can be credited to course requirements at your home university. How to apply

To apply for a unit of study at the University of Sydney, you must be enrolled for the current academic year in an accredited related course of study at another institution.

Your admission to a unit or units at the University of Sydney is subject to approval, which may include the fulfilment of prerequisites in previous study and availability.

Applicants applying in a Performance or a portfolio music disclipline such as Composition will be required to audition (or submit a portfolio and participate in an interview).

Closing dates

Semester 1 - 31 October of the preceding year

Semester 2 - 30 June of the commencing year

We strongly encourage applicants to apply as early as possible, offers are made on a rolling basis and places are limited.

 

Starting date

Semester 1 (February)

Semester 2 (August) in the following principal study areas:

  • Orchestral performance
  • Non-orchestral performance (Classical piano; Collaborative piano; Classical guitar; Organ; Classical saxophone)
  • Historical Performance
  • Non-western music
  • Drum set
