The national energy market, mainly electricity and gas markets, in Australia is operated under a single market operator. The electricity market represents the deregulated power industry to facilitating competition in the generation and retailer sectors. Gas generators relay on the gas market for its energy supply and can be constrained depending on the contractual arrangement. The spot market is highly volatile with huge price variations. This research aims at developing market simulation and risk management strategies in an energy market.
