Summary

A philosopher of science focusing on biology, biomedicine and psychology, Paul was educated at Cambridge and the Australian National University, receiving his PhD in 1989. He heads the Theory and Method in Bioscience group in the Charles Perkins Centre, a major initiative at Sydney focused on interdisciplinary research into obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. He has held the two most prestigious Fellowships from the Australian Research Council, a Federation Fellowship and a Laureate Fellowship, and is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the Royal Society of NSW.
