This project aims to identify and optimise potential dynamic measures that can be applied in traditional public transport systems.
Recent years have witnessed widespread adoption of dynamic decisions in transport. The most important example is on-demand mobility, where vehicles’ routes are decided on the fly, depending on the users being served. On the other hand, traditional public transport uses fixed routes, which eases the coordination between users and vehicles and makes the system more predictable from the users’ perspective. In this project, we aim to identify which decisions can be taken dynamically, such as the stop pattern or the fare, in order to respond to the demand and other varying exogenous conditions, without changing the vehicles’ routes.
