Sydney Uni Hockey Club’s (SUHC) premier women’s team will be hoping for another case of deja vu when they take on old foes Briars in this weekends Sydney Women’s Hockey League Metro I grand final.

This Saturday the stage is set for the two most consistent teams in the competition to renew their rivalry on the largest stage – Sydney Uni finished as minor premiers, while Briars finished second.

Last season Sydney Uni defeated Briars 3-1 in the grand final, and two weeks ago the Students proved too strong as they once again pulled off a 3-1 victory this time in the major semi-final.

While Sydney Uni enjoyed a weekend off, Briars defeated Moorebank 2-1 to earn another shot at the Students.

Earlier in the season Briars defeated Sydney Uni 1-0 (Round 8), while their Round 17 encounter ended in a hard-fought 1-1 draw.

The Students will be hoping that their big match experience will get them over the line this Saturday. The game starts at 2.30pm at the Olympic Pitch at Homebush.

Three other Sydney Uni teams will play in grand finals this weekend – mixed U15’s, mixed U17’s and the women’s 4th grade team.
