The scholarship is valued at $10,000 per annum and is tenable for two years. The scholarship also provides a paid intership opportunity at Gresham.

Note: The internship will be paid at a level equivalent to other Gresham interns. The value of the scholarship is classed as taxable income.

  • be enrolled in your second last year of study in an undergraduate degree in the Business School
  • have a minimum WAM of 75
  • be a domestic student.

1. Background

a. Established in late 2019, this Scholarship has been generously sponsored by Gresham Partners Ltd, a leading independent Australian-owned advisory and funds management business. It aims to assist women interested in a career in Finance through direct financial support and a paid internship with Gresham.

2. Eligibility

a. Applicants must be enrolled in their penultimate year of study in an undergraduate coursework degree within the Sydney Business School at the University of Sydney.

b. Applicants must be female.

c. Applicants must have a WAM of at least 75.

d. Applicants must be a domestic student.

3. Selection Criteria

a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:

I. academic merit, and

II. a personal statement that demonstrates

i. a career interest in the finance industry, and

ii. a diverse range of interests outside of their studies.

b. The Scholarship will be awarded subject to the student undertaking a paid internship with Gresham.

c. The Scholarship will be awarded by the Dean of the University of Sydney Business School, or their nominated delegates, with consultation from the donor.

4. Value

a. The Scholarship is valued at $10,000 per annum and is tenable for 2 years.

b. The Scholarship money is taxable income as it is awarded subject to the undertaking of a paid internship with Gresham.

c. The Scholarship annual value will be paid in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester.

d. Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted, and it is not transferable to another University school, faculty or university without prior approval.

e. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.

f. No other amount is payable.

5. Ongoing eligibility

a. To continue receipt of the Scholarship, the recipient must maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 75 each semester.

b. Recipients undertaking an exchange during the tenure of this Scholarship are required to have achieved a Satisfied Requirements grade (SR) to receive their next payment.

6. Termination

a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:

I. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,

II. commences part-time study without prior approval,

III. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance,

IV. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application,

V. accepts an alternative scholarship, administered by the University of Sydney, valued at $6,000 per annum or more for the same purpose as this Scholarship,

VI. does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave,

VII. fails to complete the internship with Gresham, or

VIII. any other provision as indicated in these terms that would lead to termination.

b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.

c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
