Who's eligible

You must:

  • be a domestic or international high school student who attends a minimum of four faculty-approved school engagement activities prior to the completion of Year 12
  • complete the required number of activities from Year 9 up until Year 12 students are encouraged to complete at least one activity per year
  • enrol into a Faculty of Engineering course at the University of Sydney.

Background

Established in 2017, this scholarship aims to encourage high school students to participate in Faculty of Engineering engagement activities and to promote global mobility.

1. Background

a. Established in 2017, the Propel Mobility Scholarship aims to encourage high school students to participate in Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies school engagement activities and to promote global mobility.

2. Eligibility

a. The scholarship is open to all high school students (both domestic and international) who attend a minimum of four Faculty approved school engagement activities prior to the completion of Year 12 and subsequently enrol into a Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies course at the University of Sydney.

b. Eligible engagement activities will be nominated/or pre-approved by the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies, and may be amended from time to time at the discretion of the Faculty Manager of Student Recruitment in consultation with the Faculty Student Engagement and Leadership Officer.

c. Eligible school students must complete the required number of activities from Year 9 up until Year 12. Students are encouraged to complete at least one activity per year.

3. Selection Criteria

a. The scholarship shall be awarded to those who complete the approved number of school engagement activities.

b. To receive the scholarship, students must provide evidence of enrolment in a student exchange, study abroad, or other Faculty global activity as identified and approved by the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies.

c. Eligible Faculty global activities will be listed on the Faculty website.

4. Value

a. The total value of the scholarship is $2,000 once only.

b. Payment shall be made in one lump sum payment.

c. The scholarship shall be awarded subject to the availability of funds.

d. The scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.

e. No other amount is payable.

f. The scholarship shall be tenable for the full-time duration of the recipient’s undergraduate studies within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies.

g. Deferment of the scholarship is not permitted once funding has been approved, unless exceptional circumstances can be demonstrated and at the discretion of the Associate Dean (Education).

h. The scholarship shall be tenable in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the University of Sydney and shall not be transferable to another school, faculty or university.

5. Termination

a. The scholarship will be terminated on the following grounds:

I. the recipient withdraws from their enrolled course within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the University of Sydney,

II. the recipient does not undertake an eligible global mobility activity during the full-time course of their enrolment with the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies,

III. the recipient does not seek approval prior to commencing a global mobility activity, and

IV. the recipient obtains funding under this scholarship, but does not undertake the global mobility activity.

b. In the event that the recipient does not complete a global mobility activity and funds have been provided under this scholarship, any money paid to the student will be requested to be repaid to the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies. This is subject to the Associate Dean (Education)’s discretion.

c. Once the scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated.
