Background

Established in 2023, the Webster Scholarship provides support towards the cost
of accommodation at St Paul’s College for students commencing the Bachelor of
Veterinary Biology/Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Students will have the
opportunity to reside at St Paul's College and take advantage of the academic and peer support structures that Australia's oldest university college provides.

1. Background
a. Established in 2023, the Webster Scholarship in Veterinary Medicine (Scholarship) is to support students commencing the Bachelor of Veterinary Biology/Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney with the cost of accommodation at St Paul’s College.
b. This Scholarship will support students with the cost of accommodation at St Paul’s College.

2. Eligibility
a. Applicants must be domestic students
b. The Scholarship is offered subject to the applicant having an unconditional offer of admission and commencing
full-time study in the Bachelor of Veterinary Biology/Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Sydney
c. Applicants must be able to demonstrate low socio-economic status via UAC.

3. Selection Criteria
a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:
i. evidence of low socio-economic status,
ii. academic merit.
b. Preference will be given to students with a rural, regional, or remote primary residential address.
c. The scholarship will be awarded by a selection committee of St Paul’s College in collaboration with the Sydney School of Veterinary Science.

4. Value
a. The Scholarship will provide significant financial support of over $30,000 per annum to support with college fees for 4 years being the first 2 years of the Bachelor of Veterinary Biology and first 2 years of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in the combined degree
b. The scholarship will also provide each student with a stipend of $5,000 for the 3rd year of the Doctor of Veterinary
Medicine in the combined degree
c. The scholarship does not cover the full cost of accommodation
d. The scholarship cannot be deferred, and it is not transferable to another University College
e. The scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.
f. No other amount is payable.

5. Ongoing Eligibility
a. To continue receipt of the scholarship, the recipient must maintain full-time enrolment and a minimum Semester
Average Mark (SAM) of 65 each semester
b. The recipient must maintain a level of academic performance and good conduct.

6. Termination
a. The scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:
i. withdraws from the course or fails to enrol,
ii. commences part-time study without prior approval,
iii. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance,
iv. is determined by the University or St Paul’s College to be guilty of serious misconduct including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application,
v. does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave, or
vi. any other provision as indicated in these terms that would lead to termination.
b. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the scholarship is terminated under any instance in the
Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any scholarship
funds paid to the scholarship recipient be reimbursed.

7. Responsibilities of the Chosen Scholar
a. The chosen Scholar has the following responsibilities during the period of the Scholarship:
i. to contribute to the life of the College through their studies, and through engagement in its extracurricular
life,
ii. to maintain a standard of behaviour commensurate with the College ethos,
iii. to participate in the life of the College through sharing their talents with other members of the College
community,
iv. to acknowledge, where appropriate, the scholarship within the wider community,
v. to assist the College in promoting the scholarship as appropriate,
vi. achieve satisfactory results as determined by the College.
