Honours programs

If you commenced your studies in 2018 or later, honours can be completed as an embedded program in the final year of the Bachelor of Design Computing and Bachelor of Advanced Studies.

Eligibility

To be eligible you also need to:

  • have completed 144 credit points, including at least one major
  • achieve a weighted average mark (WAM) of 70.

Before applying candidates must have an approved thesis topic and supervisor, which must be attached to the admission application. The supervisor must be from our academic staff. We invite candidates to discuss their plans with a relevant staff member.

When to apply

Commencing Semester 1, 2020
Applications open: Friday 30 August 2019 - Friday 31 January 2020

Commencing Semester 2, 2020
Applications open: Tuesday 31 March - Tuesday 30 June 2020

How to apply

You can apply for Advanced Studies honours through Sydney Student (go to ‘Course details’, Apply for Advanced Studies honours’).

If you have already re-enrolled and selected advanced coursework units, you will need to remove these units before you can apply for honours.

What happens next

You can view the status of your application or cancel your request under ‘My requests’. We will email you with an outcome of your application once your semester results have been published.

If your application is successful, you will need to select honours units through Sydney Student. Contact your honours coordinator if you have any questions.

The Bachelor of Design Computing (Honours) is a stand-alone honours program requiring an additional year of study. This program is for current students who commenced before 2018.

If you are currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Design Computing and commenced your studies in 2018 or later (or transferred to the new curriculum version of your degree in 2018), we recommend you change to the combined Bachelor of Advanced Studies to complete honours.

The Bachelor of Design in Architecture (Honours) is a stand-alone honours program requiring an additional year of study.
