Emails and wi-fi

You can find information on your UniKey, where to find computers and study spaces on campus, or help with Canvas.

Email

Your University student email account is provided to you when you enrol. You need to check your University email address regularly as it’s how we will contact you if we need to get in touch.

Email format and password

Your email address is your UniKey followed by @uni.sydney.edu.au (for example abcd1234@uni.sydney.edu.au). Use your UniKey password to log in to your email.

If you can’t log in to your email, you may need to synchronise your password, or if you don’t know your password you can reset it. If you change your UniKey password, remember to update your password on all your devices.

How to access your email

You can access your email through Office365 in a web browser. More information on accessing your email through Office365 is available on the Office support site.

You can also set up your email account on your device using these instructions.

Setup Outlook for Android

  1. From your Android device, go to the Google Play Store and install the Microsoft Outlook app.
  2. Open the 'Outlook for Android' mobile app after installation has completed.
  3. Tap 'Get Started'.
  4. Enter your your University email address and tap 'Add account'.
  5. When prompted enter your Unikey password.
  6. Follow the prompts to finish.

Note: Requires iOS 11 or later

  1. Go to 'Settings', 'Passwords & Accounts', 'Add Account' then 'Microsoft Exchange'.
  2. Enter your student email address and a description.
  3. You will be prompted to sign into your Exchange account using Microsoft. Tap 'Sign in'.
  4. Enter your UniKey password, then tap 'Sign in'.
  5. Toggle the features you want to sync to your phone.
  6. Tap 'Next' and follow the prompts to complete adding the account.

Note: Requires macOS 10.14 or later

  1. Open ‘Mail' app.
  2. From the Mail menu, select '‘Add account’, then ‘Exchange’.
  3. Enter your full name and student email address.
  4. When prompted sign into your account using Microsoft select 'Sign in'.
  5. Enter your university password, select 'Sign in'.

Note: Requires Outlook 2016 or later

  1. Go to ‘File’, then ‘Add account’.
  2. Enter your student email address. Click 'Connect'.
  3. Select 'Microsoft 365'.
  4. Enter your university password. Click 'Sign in'.
  5. Follow the prompts to complete adding the account.

Wi-fi

You can access our wireless network ‘UniSydney’ on any wireless-enabled device when you’re on campus.

Use your UniKey and password to connect.

  1. Go to ‘Settings’, then ’Wi-Fi’.
  2. Select the UniSydney network and fill in the following:
    • EAP method: PEAP
    • Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPv2
    • CA certificate: Do not validate
    • User certificate: Unspecified
    • Domain: auth.wireless.sydney.edu.au
    • Identity: Your UniKey
    • Anonymous identity: leave blank
    • Password: your UniKey password.
  1. Go to ‘Settings’, then ‘Wi-Fi’.
  2. Select the ‘UniSydney’ network.
  3. Enter your UniKey and password.
  4. If you receive a prompt to install a security certificate, make sure the name is auth.wireless.sydney.edu.au
  1. Select the AirPort icon in the system tray.
  2. Select the ‘UniSydney’ network.
  3. Enter your UniKey and password.
  1. Select the Wireless Network Settings icon in the system tray.
  2. Select the ‘UniSydney’ network.
  3. Enter your UniKey and password.
  4. If you receive a prompt to install a security certificate, make sure the name is auth.wireless.sydney.edu.au before continuing.

    You may need to enter the following details:

    • SSID: UniSydney
    • Security type: WPA2 Enterprise
    • EAP method: PEAP with MSCHAPV2
