With the return of overseas travel, the upcoming winter break (June-August) is your opportunity to combine travel and study through a short-term (2-6 weeks long) global experience. Depending on your program and planning, you can earn credit towards your course at Sydney and discover a different country, culture, and environment.
There are many personal, professional, and academic benefits of a global experience during your degree. A short-term program with Sydney Abroad is one of many global opportunities available to you. Attend a Sydney Abroad info session or contact the Sydney Abroad team and we’ll help you find your ideal program.
Hundreds of Sydney students are getting ready to travel, live and study overseas next semester on an exchange program. There are hundreds of partners in more than 40 countries so don’t miss the opportunity - applications for the next round, Semester 1, 2023, are now open.
To meet the initial eligibility for the Semester/Year Exchange Program, you need to be on track to have a weighted average mark (WAM) of at least 50 and have completed at least 24 credit points at the University of Sydney by the time you apply.. Full eligibility requirements can be found on the Student Website.
Whether you’re still exploring destinations, putting together an application or unsure about some steps in the process, the Sydney Abroad team is here to help. Our short-term and semester/year exchange advisers have experience and knowledge across all our programs, partners and destinations so you're in safe hands.
There are Sydney Abroad info sessions and application workshops held on-campus and online over Zoom. Be sure to register and attend to kickstart your journey.
Your destination, living expenses, accommodation preferences, extra travel, flights and more, all impact the cost of a global experience. There are a number of overseas study scholarships and other funding options available and many Faculty-specific options. If you hold a commonwealth supported place, you may be eligible for an OS-HELP loan.
It’s important to know that if you’re applying for an exchange program – this can be either short-term and semester long – you'll remain enrolled and continue to pay tuition and SSAF fees to the University of Sydney for the duration of your program. For non-exchange programs - which are short-term - you enrol and pay tuition fees directly to the host institution or program provider.
